If the pinion is the one that has a high spot, the noise occurs every two or three feet and is much more pronounced because of its higher frequency. Is it something you can video and post? I would go with the fuel pump. It happens going over bumps as well as on inclines. Squeak or squeal from an engine belt. Honestly, if Ford wants to compete on "Quality" then it is going to have to significantly improve the specs for the lubricants chosen throughout the vehicle. We love the car, but have been having a problem with a high pitched squeaking noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. I've just had a failure of a caliper slide pin which completely rusted up and froze inside, the replacement part came with what appeared to me to be very low grade grease on it. Before I finally had the arm replaced (apparently they can't simply replace just the bushing - the entire arm has to go) the camber on the squeaky corner (drivers rear) went WAY negative, so the bushing was coming apart fast and things could get ugly.\. It occurs whether the radio is on or off. Bad Alternator. The pitch is constant. I’ve heard it driving straight and turning. Maybe that screen is causing the noise? ... I have particularly sensitive ears and I can still hear beyond 19 KHz and I am yet to hear anything other than the hard drive at times when the engine isn't started and you are working with the nav system. It is tough for my wife to get over to the dealership, perhaps I'll have to stop by and see if I can hear it. It's the inner rear bushing. I don't know what the Ford ones are made of, but you could try getting a can of spray-on silicone lubricant (make sure it does NOT contain solvents), and hitting all the various hinge points (A-arms, torsion bar, lower strut bushing). This truck has been to the dealership they cant figure out whats causing this noise and its not the pulleys or belts or belt tensioner. When I drive I can hear the 2 front wheels contacting the road when the windows are up. There are issues with the gear lube not holding up in the PTU, shearing in viscosity, overheating and then oxidizing to a gooey mess causing the unit to fail. About 75 miles from home I started hearing a high pitched whistle almost like a tea kettle. The noise changes pitch when decelerating from 60 mph. It is a suspension issue. I was wondering about that myself. It is very high pitch and only occurs when the fan is around 3k rpm. I think the squeaking could have been from the large bushing on the control arm. the noise is more pronounces when I put the fan on higher. The engine belts are typically made from a hard rubber and run on metal and plastic pulleys. This shouldn't hurt anything, and it might stop the noise. Bad Alternator. The noise usually start after 5 minutes from starting and driving the vehicle. Can you get it to repeat by puilling up and down on a rear open door, or steping on the door threshold? Was somebody playing the mosquito noise in the car? It's very high pitched, not a rumble, and intermittent: it comes and goes, chirping several times a second, occasionally lasting for a couple of seconds. With the overhead air vents when they are close they tend to make a whistling noise which can be any range of noise depending on the speed of the air and how closed the vent is. Maybe you should look at those. We have taken it to the dealership numerous times. Has anyone else noticed this and if so, do you know where the noise is coming from? Do that, and a lot of issues folks have been experiencing will likely go away. Average repair cost is $250 at 67,000 miles. It does not change with engine speed or transmission selection.
